The owners say they hope to open the brand new restaurant — a close replica of the beloved original that was once down the street — in late May or early June.
And it can’t come soon enough for die-hard fans. Cricket Car Hop’s official Facebook page has 1,784 likes — and counting — and dog lovers say their mouths are watering for its iconic red relish, rib sandwich and tasty Table Talk pies.
Each post showing the business’ progress at 900 Access Road draws dozens of comments.
“Hungry!” wrote Paul Doyle. “HURRY!!” Richard Asanoff chimed in.
The original Cricket was open from around 1955 until 2004, and generations of Stratford residents have sampled the charms of its special long dog with the works.
March’s rainy weather put construction a little off course, but the owners are hopeful they’ll be open for business — with a pinball machine, just like the old days — well before summer.
