STRATFORD, Conn. -- The Brew & Chew fundraiser for Bridge House will feature a comedian and mental health advocate and live music at Two Roads Brewing Company in Stratford on Friday, April 28.
Speaker Kevin Breel is the author of "Boy Meets Depression" and writes music for Bridgeport band Oh, Cassius! with songwriters John Torres and Scott Packham. Torres will perform his live music at the brewery for the fundraiser aimed at reaching "a younger demographic," said Mary Ellen McGuire, executive director at Bridge House.
The 30-year-old organization empowers adults with mental illness to improve their lives and realize their potential.
“We hope that they will spread the word about Bridge House to their peers in the community and we can continue to stamp out the stigma that often comes with a mental illness diagnosis.”
The event will be entertaining and also engage the community "in a way that hasn't been done before" at Bridge House, McGuire said.
A VIP reception is from 5 to 6 p.m. with a book sale and signing by Breel; followed by general admission from 6 to 7 p.m., with a short program at 7 p.m. There will be brewery tours, music, food by Sweet Relief Catering) and a raffle.
Tickets are $75 for VIP and $45 for general admission. Get them online here.
