Wildtree Quick Meals Come To the Rescue In Stratford

STRATFORD, Conn. — Dena Lagonigro knows many busy parents have a hard time getting dinner on the table – let alone a nutritious, delicious meal.

And that’s why she opened a Stratford location of Wildtree, a national company dedicated to making healthy, organic meals a breeze for home cooks.

"This is all about food," said Lagonigro of Wildtree founder Leslie Montie’s vision. “She wanted it not only to be delicious, but she wanted to to be delicious and she wanted it to be quick.”

To that end, Wildtree offers high-quality herbs, spices and culinary blends free of preservatives, additives and fillers. The growing product line includes oils, jams, soup and dip mixes, drink mixes, breads and desserts, as well as a full line of skillet meals that whip up in minutes, said Lagonigro, a Stratford resident who was selling her wares at a recent holiday fair at Eli Whitney School.

“With the skillet meals, you can take vegetables or rice or both and add this to the skillet and it’s done,” she said.

Montie started the business small by taking space at fairs, just like Lagonigro does in the summer and at holiday seasons.

“We also can hold tastings in your home to introduce you and your friends to the products,” she said. "It's a direct sales business."

Some of the line’s most popular items are flavored oils and a simple but scrumptious alfredo sauce, Lagonigro said. New items introduced in the past few months include biscotti mix, chai tea, a classic Catalina dressing, garlic wine marinade, Italian simmering sauce, mojo sauce and flavored sea salts.
