Not only is the town resident a vacation planning specialist, but she specializes in all things Disney.
“I love what I do,” said Mastro, staffing the Mickey Adventures booth at a recent holiday vendors fair at Eli Whitney School. “I help make dreams come true.”
As those who’ve planned a trip to the Magic Kingdom or other Disney locales and cruises know, getting all the details right can seem like a second job, said the mom of two.
By contrast, Mastro, who has visited Disney World so many times she’s lost count, tries to make planning a pleasure by using her vast store of hints and tips to make sure each vacation is tailor-made to her clients’ wishes.
She provides advice on the best times to travel, helps sort through existing package options to match the client’s finances, fully books packages, including meals and shows, and monitors for any special deals even after a package is booked.
“Most people want to know when’s the best time to go. Mostly what they’re talking about is crowds, heat and cost,” said Mastro, who trained at the College of Disney Knowledge.
Reserving a room on site is usually wise, she said. And the options run from luxury hotels to more modest camping options.
“Stay on property. It’s not true that you get a better deal, if you don’t,” she said. “When you break it down, you get a lot of bang for your buck. There’s an option for every budget.”
Mastro’s is one of 23 Mickey Adventures businesses nationwide, so she can also pull resources from her fellow specialists. The firm recently won a Disney Earmarked Award for its growth and sales.
Mastro, who grew up in Norwalk, works on commission, but she said she keeps a keen eye out for deals for her clients because each family is different.
“The point is not just for me to make money,” she said. “The point, for me, is for them to experience it and to really enjoy it.”
