Heavy Tropical Rains Headed To Stamford

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The remnants of what was once the powerful Hurricane Patricia will bring tropical downpours to Fairfield County by Wednesday.

The National Weather Service's forecast is calling for rain, with possible thunderstorms and fog, over the next two days with rainfall totals of more than 2 inches possible.

Rain is expected to begin across Fairfield County overnight into Wednesday, when rain is expected to be heavy at times. .

Rain will continue into Wednesday evening, with thunderstorms possible. The storms could produce heavy rainfall and areas of fog overnight into Thursday.

Wednesday's rainfall amounts could total 1 to 2 inches or more, the weather service said

The chance of precipitation Thursday is 80 percent, with morning showers expected, and areas of fog until noon.

High temperatures will be in the upper 60s to near 70 on both days.
