New Principal Named To School In Greenwich
Students at a school in Fairfield County will find a new principal roaming the halls this fall. Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones announced on Tuesday, May 9 the appointment of Marc Guarino as principal of Eastern Middle School, effective Saturday, July 1. Police are investigating a threatening phone call made to a. Fairfield County high school that caused the school to cancel after-school activities. The incident took place around 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 29, when Trumbull Police investigated an incident at Trumbull High School where a phone call was made to high school staff threatening the safety of the school, said Lt. Some of Fairfield County's best and brightest students were among those chosen as semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program, which celebrates the academic achievements of high schoolers. A Fairfield County high school will host a live, outdoor graduation ceremony for students amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Trumbull High School officials announced on Thursday, May 28 that there will be an in-person graduation on Saturday, June 20, though there will be strict restrictions in place for students, families and friends. The Trumbull Health Department has given the green light to reopen the doors of Trumbull High School after it was closed due to flooding damage as a result of the recent rash of thunderstorms to strike the area. Earlier this week, the school flooded, as Mother Nature dropped more than seven inches of rain in the area, forcing officials to cancel classes for several days as crews performed cleanup efforts in the building. Man, 23, Charged With Making Bomb Threat To Trumbull High School
Police arrested a local man for posting a bomb threat towards Trumbull High School on his Facebook page. Rushab Momaya, 23, a 2011 Trumbull High School graduate, stated that he was going to bomb the school but did not include any details in the posting, Trumbull police said. When Trumbull Police and the fire marshal’s office responded to Momaya’s residence, they quickly determined that the threat was not credible and that there were no explosive materials or incendiary devices on the premises, police said.
