Officials Investigating Cause Of Death For Woman Found At CT State Park State officials are investigating the cause of death of a woman found dead in a Connecticut pond. The 76-year-old Litchfield County woman was located on Thursday, Aug. 25 in Torrington, near land surrounding Burr Pond. The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was found by first responders who located the body just off the shoreline at the state park, said Paul Copleman, media relations manager for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. Female Swimmer Dies From Injuries Suffered In Fairfield County Accident A 38-year-old woman involved in a boating accident on Squantz Pond in New Fairfield has died from her injuries. Wanda Tirado of Waterbury, a swimmer from a boat, was hit around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday at Squantz Pond on Candlewood Lake and suffered critical injuries, said Chris Collibee, with the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. Tirado died around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday from the injuries sustained, Collibee said.
