'It Violently Turned At Me': Shark Scares Surfers Off Cape Cod Coast Two surfers swam away with their lives, but they reached the beach with a whale of a tale after their encounter with a 10-foot great white shark off Cape Cod over the weekend.  The incident happened off Coast Guard Beach in Eastham on Saturday, Nov. 4, according to Ray Trautz, one of the surfers.
