Covid-19 - 100 Connecticut Communities On "Red" List - Local Rates, Trends
The number of “red" communities in Connecticut has reached 100, according to the most recent state data, Thursday, Nov. 12.
Infection rates have been rising in Connecticut dramatically. There are now 100 cities and towns with the highest daily averages of newly reported COVID-19 cases.
Last week, Thursday, Nov. 5, there were 67 red communities.
And the week before that, Oct. 29, there were 30.

Seymour Woman, 19, Killed At Graduation Party
A 19-year-old area woman was shot five times and killed during a drive-by shooting at a graduation party.
Tyanna Johnson, of Seymour, in New Haven County, was killed around 11 p.m., Friday, June 12, while attending a party at Shoelace Park, on East 226 St., and Bronx Boulevard, in the Bronx, said the NYPD.
According to the NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison, a group of four people was shot when two men in a silver BMW pulled up to the celebration and opened fired before fleeing.

Running Red Light Lands Felon Behind Bars For Drugs, Gun, Police Say
A 35-year-old convicted felon landed behind bars after allegedly running a red light in front of a police officer in Fairfield County.
Ramon Capacete, of Seymour, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 24, in Shelton after police officer John Kekac stopped his vehicle for running a red light on Bridgeport Avenue, said Shelton Police Det. Richard Bango.
After stopping Capacete, Kekac discovered the vehicle was not registered or insured and that Capacete did not have a driver's license, Bango said.

Two Men Nabbed For Firing Gun Out Of Vehicle Following Night Of Drinking, Police Say
Two area men were arrested for allegedly firing a gun out of a vehicle after a night of drinking.
Michael White, 31, of Seymour, and Kenneth Banks, 27, of Shelton, were arrested after turning themselves in to Shelton Police for the incident which took place on Jan. 22, said Shelton Police Det. Richard Bango.
According to Bango, Shelton Police received a complaint of shots fired in the area of Willoughby Road and Independence Drive.
When officers responded they recovered numerous spent shell casing near stop signs in the area, he said.

Two men were arrested on arson charges following an investigation into an event that took place in October regarding the theft of a vehicle.
Matthew Bittner, 38, of Monroe, and Joseph Bogdanyi, 32, Seymour, were arrested Monday, Dec. 23, by Monroe Police following an investigation into the reported theft and arson of a vehicle.
According to Monroe Police, on Oct. 23, the department received a report of a vehicle on fire in the driveway of 35 Corporate Drive in Monroe.
