The incident occurred in the town of Fairfield around 3 p.m., Monday, March 4 on Longdean Road. According to Sgt. Michael Stahl of the Fairfield Police, the resident's employer called the police asking for a welfare check when the employee did not show up for work or answer the phone. Two Percent Budget Increase, 18 Employee Layoffs Proposed For Westport The Westport School District may be increasing its budget and cutting jobs if the superintendent’s proposed spending plan is approved. Westport Schools Superintendent Colleen Palmer has proposed a $119,283,880 budget for 2019-20, which represents an increase of 2.68 percent ($3,110,080) from the current budget. The proposal would potentially see as many as 18 jobs in the district eliminated to cut costs.
