Danbury Location Among New Barnes & Noble Stores Planned For 2023
Book lovers in the region will have a new option for their next binge as bookseller giant Barnes & Noble continues to expand at an "unprecedented" rate. Barnes & Noble announced that it would open 30 new stores in 2023 on top of the 16 stores it opened in 2022, a sharp contrast to the store's pandemic-era closings and furloughs reported by Publisher's Weekly. Westchester's Arlene M. Mavilia, 75, Was A Nurse In The Area For Over 50 Years
Arlene M. Mavilia, 75, of Baldwin Place, NY and a former resident of South Salem, passed away on May 9 after a brief fight with cancer. Arlene was born November 11, 1946 in Brooklyn to the late Alfhild and Edward Anderson. She grew up in Lake Telemark, NJ and Stamford, CT before settling in South Salem’s Lake Waccabuc community. A 1967 graduate of the Greenwich Hospital Nursing School in Connecticut, Arlene worked as an RN in various capacities for over 50 years — including several years as the school nurse at John Jay High School in Cross River.
