Two CT Officers Killed In Shooting Posthumously Promoted Two Connecticut police officers killed in an ambush-style shooting have been posthumously promoted. The two, Sgt. Dustin DeMonte and Officer Alex Hamzy were killed in Hartford County on Wednesday, Oct. 12 in Bristol. DeMonte has been promoted to Lieutenant and Hamzy has been promoted to Sergeant, said Lt. Robert Osborne, of the Bristol Police. A promotion ceremony will be a part of their joint funeral service on Friday, Oct. 21, Osborne said. Norwalk Police Department Announces Promotions Three Norwalk officers received promotions at Norwalk Police Headquarters by the Police Commission. The promotions took place on Tuesday, Nov. 24, amid wishes of good luck to the three officers, said Lt. Jared Zwickler. Those promoted included: Joseph Dinho was promoted to lieutenant. Daniel Bucci has been appointed as sergeant. Bucci is a graduate of the University of Central Florida. He graduated in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, said Greenwich Police Capt. Mark E. Zuccerella. He was hired as a Greenwich Police Officer in April, 2011 and promoted to the rank of detective in September of 2017.
