New Storm Could Bring Mix Of Snow, Ice, Causing Power Outages, Treacherous Travel
There's been no shortage of snowfall this winter.
But the main threat for the next storm taking aim on the region looks like it could be ice, leading to the possibility of potentially major power outages from damage to power lines and trees as well as treacherous travel.
The time frame for the storm, which could also bring accumulating snow to areas farther north and inland, is Saturday night, Feb. 13 through Valentine's Day, Sunday, Feb. 14, and into Presidents Day on Monday, Feb. 15.

Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. announced it is recalling its four-pound bags of Valencia Oranges, two-pound bags of lemons, bulk lemons, and a variety of in-store produced seafood and restaurant foods items that contain fresh lemon because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

After having its June opening delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the latest Wegmans supermarket has now set a new grand opening date.
Wegmans will officially open its first Westchester location at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5 on Corporate Park Drive near I-287, I-684 and the Hutchinson River Parkway in Harrison.

A father from Westchester was taking his son and two friends to a Jewish league basketball game when the BMW they were aboard was involved in a wrong-way crash on I-287.
Jordan Wachtell, 57, of Ardsley, was driving a 2018 BMW 330CI when it was struck by a 2006 Jeep, operated by Jaime Paucar, 50, of Amawalk, traveling westbound in the eastbound lane around 8:30 p.m. in Harrison on Thursday, Jan. 30, state police said.
The crash caused the Jeep to roll over and come to rest on the center median guide rail, according to police.
