Help's On Way: CT National Guard, 40 Eversource Crews Head To Gulf For Ida Recovery
The Connecticut cavalry is coming. Help is on the way to residents and businesses in the south that are suffering in the wake of Hurricane Ida as Eversource line crews and members of the Connecticut National Guard make their way to Louisiana to help with clean-up efforts. Dozens of Eversource line crews said farewell to the Nutmeg State over the weekend as utility workers prepare to help restore power to more than a million homes and businesses. After Henri: Three Possible Tropical Systems Churning In Atlantic Basin
The National Hurricane Center says it's watching three areas of what it calls "disturbed weather" in the Atlantic Basin that could develop into tropical systems in the coming days. Any could become the next named tropical storm. The next name on the list, following the now-departed Henri, is Ida, followed by Julian and Kate. Popular CT Eatery Closed Due To Damage From Henri
A popular Connecticut eatery is closed due to the effects of Henri when a large tree fell on the roof causing damage. A tree fell across the Litchfield County breakfast and brunch hotspot in the middle of Sunday brunch at Cara-Bean, in Watertown, said owner Jasmine Benjamin Jeffrey. The large tree destroyed the restaurant's vent hood, but no one inside was injured. Unfortunately, the restaurant, located at 49 DeForest St., can't operate without a vent hood so they are closed, Benjamin Jeffrey said. "Hopefully, we will reopen later in the week," she said. Fears of dangerous winds from Henri never materialized for most of this region after the storm weakened significantly before making landfall, which wound up being about 50 miles farther east than earlier projections.
