Arrest Made In Beating Death Of Bridgeport Homeless Man Police have arrested a Bridgeport man for the alleged brutal beating death of a homeless person. The assault took place in Bridgeport around 9:15 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11, in the 800 block of Fairfield Ave., said Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management for Bridgeport. The incident was reported around 9:15 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11, in the 800 block of Fairfield Ave., said Capt. Kevin Gilleran of the Bridgeport Police. The fire, at the Greater St. John Fire-Baptized Holiness Church, at 804 Fairfield Ave., in Bridgeport, was reported around 11:20 p.m., Thursday, said Scott Appleby, director of the city's Office of Emergency Management.  Arriving firefighters found a working fire, but were able to extinguish without any injuries, Appleby said. One Stabbed At Dollar Store In Bridgeport This story has been updated. A 24-year-old man was stabbed during an incident at the Dollar General Store in Bridgeport, Bridgeport Police said. The incident took place around 7:15 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, at the store located at 577 Fairfield Ave., said Capt. Brian Fitzgerald. The victim was stabbed in the abdomen during this incident. He was treated at St. Vincent’s Medical Center where he underwent surgery, Fitzgerald said.  "We believe the victim is expected to survive," he added. Fitzgerald did not offer further information.

Bridgeport Carjacking Suspects On Loose Bridgeport Police are investigating a carjacking early Monday by two or three men dressed in black. The incident took place around 12:36 a.m. Monday, March 18, near 2098 Fairfield Ave., in Bridgeport when the victim was assaulted and his vehicle, a black Dodge Challenger, was stolen, said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department. Video: Bank In Bridgeport Stop & Shop Robbed By Suspect Who Claimed To Have A Bomb A bank in Bridgeport was robbed early Wednesday by a man who claimed to have a bomb inside a box.  The incident took place at the People's Bank located inside the Stop & Shop supermarket at 2145 Fairfield Ave., around 10:30 a.m., said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police. During the robbery, a short black male, between the ages of 45 to 55, walked in a put a box on the counter, told the teller there was a bomb inside and demanded money, Jones said.
