CT Investment Advisor Sentenced For Stealing More Than $600K From Client A Connecticut man has been sentenced for stealing more than $600,000 from an investment client.  New Haven County resident Matthew Clason, age 40, of Cheshire, was sentenced on Tuesday, Dec. 7, to 30 months in prison followed by two years of supervised release for one count of wire fraud, according to an announcement from Leonard Boyle, acting United States attorney for the District of Connecticut. Caretaker Charged With Abuse After Woman Found Dead A man who was caring for an elderly female has been arrested for elder abuse after she was found dead. The woman was discovered in May 2017, after Milford Police received a 211 call requesting a welfare check of the woman who was being cared for by Michael O’Connell, 64, of Milford. Home Health Aid Sentenced For Stamford Thefts A Bridgeport home health aide hired to care for an elderly Alzheimer's patient was sentenced to five years in jail Friday for stealing $26,000 from the 81-year-old woman. During sentencing in Stamford, Philliann Barnett, 39, was given a 10-year sentence, reduced by half. She will also have to pay restitution and will serve five years of probation following her release. Barnett, who was arrested in December 2015 for the crime, committed numerous acts of fraud, which led to losses of over $26,000 to the Springdale woman, the Stamford Police said following an investigation.
