A 100-year-old building in Fairfield County is for lease with a specific purpose in mind: marijuana. For lease through the Web Realty Company, 25 Van Zant Street in Norwalk is advertised as a "cannabis space for lease," according to the online listing. The building is now billed as having "265,000 interior square feet for cannabis space" and "80,000 exterior square feet of outdoor rooftop cannabis space." One Killed After Car Crashes Into Tree In Norwalk
One person was killed after a vehicle crashed into a tree in Fairfield County. The crash took place just after midnight on Monday, June 15, at the intersection of East Avenue and Sunset Hill Avenue in Norwalk, said Lt. Jared Zwickler. When officers arrived on the scene of the crash they found a car had struck a tree and had heavy damage. Firefighters from the Norwalk Fire Department extricated the lone occupant of the vehicle who was pronounced dead at the scene, Zwickler said. The crash is under investigation. Box Truck Crashes Into Telephone Pole, Splitting It In Half, In Norwalk
A box truck crashed into a telephone pole, splitting it in half, with the tension causing the adjacent pole to also split. It happened around 3:35 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2 in Norwalk on East Avenue, just north of Route 1. While diverting traffic and clearing the hazard area, a transformer blew and wires were smoking. East Avenue was closed between Cannon Street and Route 1 and the residents on the pole side of the street were advised to stay in their homes. A Norwalk family is still searching for their beloved dog who has been missing for more than a month and they are asking the public for help. Athena, a 70-pound brown hound dog with tan legs, has been missing from Raymond Terrace since July 23, according to Merri Wong, whose little boy is "really" missing his dog. Although missing from Raymond Terrace, Wong said Athena was last seen on Olmstead Place near its intersection with East Avenue. Police are asking the public for help identifying a woman who is a person of interest in a hit-and-run crash in Norwalk. The crash took place on Wednesday, July 31, at the Shorehaven Mobil Gas Station at 219 East Ave., police said. The women is a person of interest in this hit and run, police said. I-95 Crash Causes Stop-Go Delays
This story has been updated. There was gridlock on a stretch of I-95 in Fairfield County late Saturday afternoon following a serious crash. The crash, reported just before 4:30 p.m., occurred on the southbound side between Route 33/136 (Exit 17) and East Avenue (Exit 16) in Norwalk, with stop-and-go delays of up to a half-hour to Sherwood Island (Exit 18) in Westport.

Date For Route 1 Paving Project Changed
There has been a change of plans, leading to delays for motorists in Fairfield County on a busy Norwalk roadway sooner than expected. The Norwalk Department of Public Works issued an alert regarding a road resurfacing project on East Avenue, from Route 1 to East Wall Street, which has been moved up to begin on the night of Thursday, Sept. 6. The DPW said that work is expected to take place between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., through the conclusion of the project.

Four men were busted by Norwalk police after officers with the Narc Team noticed a vehicle making erratic maneuvers through traffic. The incident took place around 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 17 when the officers noticed a gold Infiniti in the area of Main Avenue and Broad Street. Team members watched as the vehicle, with four people inside, pulled into a gas station and made note of the vehicle, said Sgt. Sofia Gulino. Temporary Memorial Day Road Closures Scheduled On I-95
Exit 16 ramps along Interstate-95 will be closed on Monday, May 28 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for the Norwalk Memorial Day Parade. The Norwalk Police Department announced the temporary road closure. The parade starts at Veterans Park in East Norwalk and proceeds east on Van Zant Street, then north on East Avenue prior to concluding at the Norwalk Green. Van Zant Street, East Avenue (south of Route 1), and the northbound and southbound ramps of I-95 Exit 16 will be closed to all traffic.
