Metro-North Service Suspended As Snow Becomes Heavier During Nor'easter Metro-North trains will be temporarily suspending service as the rate of snowfall during the Nor'easter has become heavier, creating potential travel hazards. MTA officials announced that with major snow accumulation and high winds creating increasingly hazardous travel conditions, Metro-North will shut down service with the last trains departing Grand Central Terminal at approximately 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1. First Metro-North Worker Dies Of Covid-19 A Metro-North Railroad employee has died from the novel coronavirus, the agency's first death caused by COVID-19. John Oles, 57, a machinist based in Northern Westchester out of the Harmon Support Shop in Croton-Harmon,  died on Monday, April 13.  “We are profoundly saddened by the loss of John Oles," said Metro-North Railroad President Cathy Rinaldi.  Rinaldi said Oles was a 28-year veteran of the agency who will be deeply missed by his colleagues.
