A storm system with showers and thunderstorms will bring with it relief from heat and humidity across the area. The workweek will wrap up with another scorcher on Friday, June 28, which will be mostly sunny with afternoon high temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s. (See second image above.) An approaching cold front will bring a dramatic change in the weather pattern following a springlike start to the weekend. Clouds are on the increase in the morning Sunday, March 31 ahead of the cold front's arrival. Soaking Rain Sweeps Through Area, But Big Change In Store For Weekend
A workweek marked by wet weather is ending with a super soaker on Friday. A Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for much of the region until noon on Friday. Rain, which will be heavy at times, will continue through late in the morning Friday. Let's start with the good news. After rounds of storms that soaked parts of the area with several inches of rain on Tuesday, Wednesday will be dry for most of the day. Change is coming to the area. At least when it comes to the weather. A fourth straight day with a heat index around 100 degrees on Thursday will mark the end of the Labor Day week hot streak. A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday. An approaching cold front will begin to move through the region late Thursday afternoon into the evening.
