A woman allegedly driving the wrong way on I-84 causing a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer in Northern Fairfield County has been charged with DUI. Crystal Smith, age 41, of Danbury, was arrested around 2:15 a.m., Monday, Oct. 31 in Newtown. A controversial spot for a nightclub may go live once again. An application for a restaurant liquor permit has been filed for 93 Campbell Ave., in West Haven. This address most recently hosted HerSoul, a Colombian cafe that opened in 2018. But before that, it was the infamous Peroles. Peroles restaurant slowly turned into more of a bar and nightclub over the years. Some neighbors blamed the hotspot for an increase in violence and alcohol-related incidents in the area. An off-duty Connecticut state trooper who died in a head-on crash in February was driving nearly 80 miles per hour and had a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit, according to Wolcott Police.
