Good Samaritan Turned Hero Cheered For Actions After Downtown Stamford Attack, Robbery Police in Connecticut are praising a Good Samaritan for helping a woman who was attacked and robbed earlier this week and for later helping capture the alleged suspect. The incident occurred Tuesday evening, Dec. 17, when an 18-year-old woman was walking in downtown Stamford near the intersection of Atlantic Street and Tresser Boulevard. A man tackled her to the ground and tried to steal her handbag, police said. 2 Bridgeport City Council Members Arrested At Polling Place A pair of city council members were arrested in separate incidents outside the same polling place in Fairfield County. The arrests took place in Bridgeport outside of the John F. Kennedy School on Tuesday, Nov. 7, said Terron Jones, a spokesman for the city. According to Jones, Councilwoman Samia Suliman, representing the 138th District was charged with breach of peace at the polling place around 4:20 p.m. after a 911 call was received about a person causing a disturbance. Suspicious CT Shooting Leaves Man, Woman Dead A man and a woman were shot and killed in what police are calling  "suspicious deaths." The two were discovered in a Hartford County home in East Granby around 5:45 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 28 on Wynding Hills Road, according to the Connecticut State Police. Preliminary information says troopers responded to the home after receiving a 911 call reporting gunshots, state police said. Troopers and East Granby Officers responded to the residence, where they located two adults, a male, and a woman, with apparent gunshot wounds. NY Woman Killed By Her Own Dog In Backyard Attack A 70-year-old New York woman was killed by the family's 100-pound pit bull that was later killed by police. The Long Island incident took place in the hamlet of Albertson in North Hempstead on Wednesday, July 27 around 1:20 p.m. in the backyard of a home on Terrace Court. Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said during a news conference the woman's husband came home and found the dog attacking his wife in the backyard.
