STAMFORD, Conn. Westhill High School distance runners Sam Lagasse and Claire Howlett had top three finishes Saturday at the Irv Black Invitational at Veterans Stadium in New Britain.
Lagasse took second in the 3,200 meters, while Howlett was third in the girls 3,200. Howlett also finished seventh in the 1,600.
In the boys 3,200, Lagasse ran 9:39.71 and trailed only Dharan Velasquez of Capital Prep, who ran 9:31.00. Howlett ran 11:22.19 in the girls 3,200, which Glastonburys Reid Watson won in 11:08.89. Howlett ran 5:19.33 in the 1,600. Howlett bettered her seeded times in each race.
