Westhill JV Baseball Splits a Pair

Tyler Phillipson pitched three scoreless innings and allowed just one hit as Westhill's junior varsity baseball team defeated Staples, 6-5, earlier this week.

Billy Murphy went 2-for-4 and Simon Handler drove in the winning run in the top of the sixth with a two-out single. Murphy also had a strong defensive game at shortstop.

Later in the week, Westhill dropped a tough 8-7 contest to Ridgefield. Peter Dawson pitched five good innings and was relieved by Ronnie Jackson to close the game. Brian Pollack led off the bats with two singles and an RBI. He also had three runs and had three stolen bases. The defense was strong again despite difficult playing conditions -- the game was played in a dense fog.
