Westhill Athletes Shine at State Track Meet

STAMFORD, Conn. – Westhill’s Kiara Kallaway and Claire Howlett had top five finishes at Wednesday’s Class LL track and field championships at Manchester High School.

For the boys, pole vaulters Evan McCafferty and Billy Thibault had top five finishes, and Sam Lagasse was seventh in the 3,200.

Kallaway finished fourth in the 300 hurdles in 47.56. Howlett took fifth in the 3,200 in 11:20.28, her best time of the year. She was less than two seconds out of third.

McCafferty cleared 12 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault to finish tied for third. Thibault finished fifth but jumped the same height. Lagasse ran 9:39.96 in the 3,200.

Kyle Miller also competed in the pole vault for Westhill. Alison Ambrosecchio and Nicole Ambrosecchio ran in the 800. Westhill’s girls fielded teams in the 4 x 100 and 4 x 800 relays. Isabel Yick, Julia Busto, Monique Loney, Melissa Midgen and Tierra Joseph were among the relay squads. Loney also ran in the 200. Danielle Leffaund competed in the discus.

For Stamford, Brianna Casseus was seventh in the long jump.
