Stamford Youth Soccer League has announced its tryout schedule for the Fall Boys and Girls Travel Teams. All players are required to attend the session or sessions with appropriate soccer attire of cleats, shin guards and a ball as well as water.
The travel soccer season runs September through mid-November, although training starts in August. Travel is generally limited to Fairfield County. Any player new to the travel program is required to bring a completed registration form along with payment, a copy of their birth certificate and a passport size photo to the tryouts. Players may register electronically by clicking here for the link, but must bring to the tryouts a copy of the confirmation page or a completed travel registration form. Travel registration forms may be found here. In addition to the registration fee, each player will be responsible for paying coaching fees that range from $200 to $250 for U9 and U10 teams and $200 to $350 for U11 teams for the fall season. There are no scholarships for coaching fees. Coaching fees are due at the beginning of training in August.
For Boys and Girls U9, U10 and U11, the tryouts will be held on Saturday, June 4, at the Grass Travel Soccer Field at West Beach on Shippan Avenue:
U9 Boys and Girls: 3 to 3:30 p.m.: Registration U9 Boys and Girls: 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.: Tryout
There is a mandatory meeting for the parents of the children trying out for the U9 Boys and Girls team beginning at 3:30 p.m.To be eligible for U9 Boys and Girls, you must have been born between Aug. 1, 2002, and July 31, 2003.
U10 Boys and Girls: 4:30 to 4:45 p.m.: Registration U10 Boys and Girls: 4:45 to 5:45 p.m.: Tryout
To be eligible for U10 Boys and Girls, you must have been born between Aug. 1, 2001, and July 31, 2002. U11 Boys and Girls: 5:45 to 6 p.m.: Registration U11 Boys and Girls: 6 to 7 p.m.: Tryout
To be eligible for U11 Boys and Girls, you must have been born between Aug. 1, 2000, and July 31, 2001.
The U13 Girls tryouts will be Monday, June 6, at the West Beach Turf Field No. 2 on Shippan Avenue from 6 to 7:30 p.m. To be eligible for U13 girls, players must have been born between Aug. 1, 1998, and July 31, 1999. All current U12 Girls Travel players along with any new players interested in joining the team should attend the tryout.
