Stamford's Roones Takes 8th In Javelin At National Track & Field Meet

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford’s Stephanie Roones finished eighth in the country in the javelin Saturday at the USA Track and Field Junior Championships in Eugene, Ore.

Roones, a rising sophomore at Monmouth University in New Jersey and a graduate of Westhill High School, threw the javelin a distance of 149 feet, 8 inches. The distance was a career high for Roones by nine feet and more than 20 feet further than her best throw in high school.

Roones finished fifth for Monmouth in the event at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championships.
