Stamford, Trinity Players Earn Football Honors

Trinity Catholic running back Mike Rivas and Stamford's Reuben Pierre-Louis earned All-State honors from the Connecticut High School Coaches Association. Rivas earned Class S honors and Pierre-Louis, a defensive lineman, was named to the Class LL team.

Rivas, a senior, rushed for 921 yards and 14 touchdowns for the Crusaders. He had his biggest game of the year against Stamford, running for 273 yards and three touchdowns. He rushed for over 100 yards in four games. He also led the Crusaders with 15 touchdowns.

Pierre-Louis had 13 ½ sacks and 54 tackles. His 10 tackles and three sacks played a key part for the Black Knights in a 27-19 upset of Trumbull, which reached the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference and Class LL championship games.

Several Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference players earned first team All-State honors. They included New Canaan wide receiver Kevin Macari and Conor Hanratty, Staples linebacker Rob Gau and punter Jason Mawicke, Darien's Charlie Kunze, St. Joseph running back Tyler Matakevich, Ridgefield offensive lineman Tommy Jordan and Trumbull defensive back Phil Terio.
