Stamford Hurricanes Sweep Soccer Tourney

The Stamford Hurricanes Boys U14 White team dominated the competition and took first place in the Newtown Kick Off Memorial Day Weekend Tournament.  In the round robin format, Stamford shut out teams from Weston, Wilton and Oxford, winning 3-0, 6-0 and 6-0 respectively.  In the finals, Stamford came up with another shutout, beating Weston 4-0.  In four games, the Hurricanes scored 19 and gave up no goals. Scorers for the Hurricanes were Twade Foster (6), Sam Smit (2), Denny Lopez (3), Joey Schinella, Sam Ruzzi (3), Jorge Alvarez (2), Martin Davila and Niko Apostolidis.  Assisting were Jake Atkinson (5), Schinella (4), Alvarez (2), Lopez, Francisco Romero (2) and Davila (2). Also contributing on strong defense were Jake Brandt and goalkeeper Greg Robinov (10 saves).
