Baines, a McDonald's All-American nominee, attracted widespread attention at a recent fall league game.
The 6-foot, 5-inch forward has a 7-foot wingspan and is coming off an impressive junior season in which he helped the Dragons (21-4) win the New England Prep School Class C championship. GFA also won the New England title in 2013.
Baines averaged 18.7 points and 8.8 rebounds last year, and shot 51 percent on 3-pointers. He also averaged 25 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks during fall league play this year.
Middlebury went 17-9 last year under veteran coach Jeff Brown, who guided the Panthers to six straight NCAA Tournament appearances from 2008-13.
Baines, along with All New England honorees Jim Djema and Sunday Okeke, will try to help Greens Farms win its third straight New England title this winter. GFA opens its season Dec. 3 at Chase Collegiate in Waterbury.
