Sportscasters Wing It on Summer Street

ESPN's sportscasters Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg sat at a table near the back of Buffalo Wild Wings Thursday evening, signing autographs, talking about football and of course, eating wings. They had worked up an appetite filming the Buffalo Wild Wings Football Kick Off Show inside the restaurant on Summer Street.

"I get to talk football and eat wings," Golic said about his job. Greenberg was quick to respond. "Those are pretty much his two best talents," he said with a smile. Greenberg is a Westport resident who likes Stamford because it has an urban quality. "I grew up in New York City. It's nice to be able to come down here and have a little taste of the city," he said.

Golic and Greenberg host "Mike & Mike in the Morning." a sports talk show on ESPN radio and ESPN 2. They were filming promotional materials for a Buffalo Wild Wings contest that will send 18 winners to the Rose Bowl to play a flag football game coached by Golic and Greenberg.

Bill Dandrea, a Stamford resident and architect, calls himself a huge Mike and Mike fan. "These guys are great," he said after discussing college football teams from the University of Michigan and the University of Notre Dame with them. Dandrea, who has lived in the city for nine years, comes to Buffalo Wild Wings regularly and had been looking forward to meeting Golic and Greenberg.

Pedro Guiterrez, on the other hand, had no idea what he was getting when he came for the Thursday happy hour. "This is amazing," said Guiterrez, a resident of West Haven, "I was watching the show this morning."
