Ruth Team Drops First World Series Game

The Stamford Babe Ruth 15's lost its first game in the Babe Ruth World Series in Monticello, Ark., 5-4 on Friday afternoon. It is the first loss for Stamford in their postseason run after winning 11 straight. After three dramatic walk-off wins in the regional tournament, Stamford had the tables turned on them by Saginaw Valley, Mich. Stamford let a 4-2 lead slip away as Saginaw Valley scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the one run lead. Stamford was unable to score in the top of the seventh. Stamford plays its second game in pool play on Saturday at 10 a.m. against Hamburg, Ark.  Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
