Registration Opens for Kids Triathlon in Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. — Registration will open Thursday, March 15, for the KIC It Kids Triathlon, scheduled for June 30 at Cove Beach in Stamford. Organizers expect registration to double to 200 participants.

Two age groups will race in two waves: Children ages 7 to 10 will complete in a 50-meter swim, a 2-mile bike course and a half-mile run. Wave 2 will be for children ages 11 to 13, who will complete a 150-meter swim, a 4-mile bike race and a 1-mile run. The KIC IT Kids Triathlon is the latest event in the growing sport. According to USA Triathlon, triathlon is one of the fastest-growing demographic groups. 

The KIC IT Kids Triathlon is all about participation — not competition – with prizes and activities for every youth athlete. The Kids Triathlon precedes the Olympic-distance Stamford KIC IT Triathlon by one day.

Proceeds from both events will benefit Kids in Crisis, the area’s only free emergency shelter and 24-hour crisis counseling center for Fairfield County children and families. Parents and children interested in registering should visit www.kicittriathlon.com.
