North Stamford Little League Roundup

STAMFORD, Conn. – The Italian Center was led by Ryan Carroll's excellent pitching performance in a 5-3 win over Unity Construction in the North Stamford Little League.

Carroll also contributed to the offensive effort by going 3-for-3 from the plate including an RBI double. Christian Frattarolli ripped two hits, including a leadoff double in the sixth and he caught the complete game. Defensive efforts by Jack Williamson and Jack Kennedy completed the well-rounded effort by the IC. Matt Masi and Connor Rondano combined in the pitching effort for Unity. Hits by Masi, Simon Uka, Dom Svrcek, and Chris Ferraro kept Unity in the game until the final inning. Here are the results of other games:

Aidan Cahill clubbed two home runs as Unity beat First County Bank, 11-4. Don Svreck and Chirs Della Jacono each had a home run. Simon Uka did a good job pitching. Logan Healy and Sean Hurley combined for a good pitching effort for First County Bank. Instant Replay defeated Viking Constructioon, 7-2, behind a complete-game effort by A.J. Lacona. Instant's offense was led by Danny D'Arinzo and Steve Westfahl, with two hits each. Viking had a good pitching performance by Nick Lombardo and their offense was led by Adam Stone and Sam Spignola. Four Sound View pitchers combined to pitch a one-hitter in a 12-1 win over the Italian Center. Charles Olsen got the start and set the tone, followed by Luca Brillo, Matt Rutherford and Jonathan Nicolaisen. Hitting stars for Sound View were Bobby Zmarzlak with three hits including a home run. Matt Greenbaum and Matt Hallinan. Brian Noone, Luke Rossi, Ryan Lubowitz and Jack Kennedy led the way for Italian Center. Dom Svreck led Unity's offense with two home runs in a 15-2 win over Italian Center. Matt Masi and Ryan Murphy also had home runs. Italian Center pitching was led by Christian Frattaroli. Ryan Lubowitz also contibuted with 2 base hits. Jason Bria pitched 3 innings of 1 hit ball,Chris Chiappetta closed out the game to give County TV a 15-2 win over Viking Construction. County TV had 15 hits, Jason Bria 4-for-4, Chris Chiappetta 3-for-3, TJ Wainwright (twohits), Anthony Socci (two hits, home run) Joey Kavulich (two hits) and DJ Hart also had a big hit. Nico Morse pitched and hit well for Viking. Kyle McGarry and Jared G had perfect back to back bunt singles. First County Bank defeated Instant Replay in extra innings, 7-5. Instant Replay built an early four-run lead behind the hitting of Mark Murphy, Cole Imborgno and Tyler Austin. First County came back and sent ahead by one as Jack Meizels and Sean Hurley had key hits. After Steve Westphal scored for Instant Replay in the bottom of the sixth to send the game into extra innings, Jack Dorfsman scored the winning run in the top of the seventh and Connor Smith came on the mound in the bottom of the inning to record the finals outs and secure the win.

Grant Purpura allowed one hit and struck out eight over four innings to lead Haggerty Pools to a 14-1 victory over Sound View. Purpura also collected three hits while Montana Semmel and Hunter Semmel each hit grand slam, and totaled six RBIs each. Sound View received strong pitching from Luca Brillo. Matt Greenbaum and Tom VanBelle led the offense with Greenbaum also playing excellent defense at short. County TV edged Instant Replay, 7-5, as Jason Bria, TJ Wainwright and Anthony Socci led the way. Pitching for County was strong by a combination of Anthony Socci and T.J. Wainwright. Cole Imbrogno has a good performance on the mound and Instant's offense was led by Mark Murphy with a double and a triple. Haggerty Pools beat Unity, 14-4. Noah Skaug and Montana Semmel led the team with three hits each. Hunter Semmel hit a two-run home run. Grant Purpura collected two hits, Nate Salm drove in three runs, and Maya Klein and Andy Putterman each drove in two runs. Aidan Feliciano and James Miller also had key at bats to aid the Haggerty offense. The Unity offense was led by Dom Svrcek with a home run. Chris Della Jacono and Michael Mohen also had hits. Connor Rondano pitched well in relief. Viking Construction behind strong pitching from Sam Lombino came from behind to defeat Soundview, 12-9. Trailing by three, Viking scratched out two runs in the fourth and followed with a three spot in the fifth. After Soundview tied the game in their half of the fifth, Viking sent 11 batters to the plate and scored seven runs in the sixth to pull away. The Viking offensive attack was paced by Sam Spingola who was on base three times and drove in two runs; three RBIs from Max Decker and a two-run single hit by Jaren Goldstein. John Farrell pitched well in a losing effort for Soundview. John Farrell also drove in three runs while Bobby Zmarzlak had three RBIs. The Italian Center staged a comeback in the sixth inning to beat First County Bank, 12-9. Ryan Carroll pitched five solid innings for Italian Center with Ryan Lubowitz closing out the sixth. Marc Migden led off the fifth inning with a double, followed by an RBI single by Luke Rossi to begin the late offensive charge by the Italian Center. Key hits by Lubowitz, Rossi, Christian Frattarolli, and Jack Seegers contributed to an eight-run sixth inning. Jack Williamson's defense in centerfield kept FCB from scoring  more runs. First County's pitching effort was led by Logan Healy holding Italian Center to three runs into the fifth. Logan also had a double and a triple. Cooper Healy laced two triples and JP Mella added a pair of doubles for First County Bank.
