North Stamford Little League Action

Here are recaps of recent games in North Stamford Little League:

Instant Replay’s Telly Colarossi hit a grand slam home run to end the game in the fifth inning against Viking Construction. Colarossi also had a single, double and triple for the cycle. Arron Miller went three-for-three with two singles and a double, and AJ Laconna stayed hot. Mark Murphy started on the mound, and Colarossi came in to close. Great catches came at third base by Jacob Stockman, and Tyler Austin made a diving out-of-bounds catch. Good gloves also came from AJ Laconna and Ryan Long. Great offense for Viking was had by Chris Beneimo and Sammy Spingola, and everything that came their way was caught. Chris Glynn also contributed good play.

North Stamford Exchange defeated Viking Construction in an extra-inning affair. Outstanding pitching by Grant Purpura with eight strikeouts, as well as timely hitting by Purpura, Russell Lofters and Maya Klein put Exchange in front 3-0 after four innings. Jed Bergman pitched great for Viking, which put two on the board in the fifth to close the gap before Purpura added a solo home run for Exchange in the bottom of the fifth. Viking tied the game in the sixth, thanks to doubles by Billy Schulz and Jack Schulz. Exchange had a chance to win in the bottom of the sixth, but a beautiful relay from Jack Schulz to Chris Glynn to Billy Schulz nailed Nathan Salm at the plate. Viking took the lead in the seventh thanks to a double by German and a monster home run from Billy Schulz.  Exchange rallied in the bottom of the seventh with a walk to Noah Skaug and key hits from Andy Putterman, Purpura and Lofters, before Klein drove in the winning run. 

Italian Center defeated County TV thanks to the starting pitching of Grant Stone, who threw three scoreless innings and was relieved by Patrick Seegers with Ryan Carroll closing out the game.  Offense for Italian Center was provided by Danny Miller, who went two-for-two with five RBIs, Ryan Carroll who hit an RBI double in the third inning and Ryan Lubowitz, who went two-for-three at the plate, scoring two for Italian Center. County TV’s bats woke up in the fourth inning with a triple by Michael Grafstein as part of his three-for-four offensive outing. Thomas Chiapetta contributed two singles to County’s offense. Defensively, Colin Callahan made a great catch in centerfield for County TV, and good pitching performances were turned in by Jordan Trief, Colton Katcher and Anthony Socci. 

Michael Lisinicchia allowed one hit over three scoreless innings and also connected for two home runs and a double to lead North Stamford Exchange to victory over County TV. Grant Purpura also hit a home run and scored three runs. The Exchange offense was also aided by Russell Lofters, with two hits and two runs scored, Hunter Semmel with three hits and three runs scored and Nate Salm with two hits and 3 RBIs. Exchange received outstanding defense from Maya Klein and Max Allen.  County’s hit was an RBI double by Michael Grafstein.
