King Blanked by Hamden Hall in Baseball Finals

The King School batters had no answer for Hamden Hall starter Austin French on Sunday. The top-ranked team blanked King, 6-0, in the Fairchester Athletic Association final, thanks to an incredible outing by the Hamden Hall junior lefthander.

French struck out 18 batters and allowed only two hits in a clutch performance in the championship game. Incredibly, those two hits came in the top of first. King would get just three more base runners the rest of the afternoon on two walks and a hit batsman.

Rain did not help King's cause, as the Vikings were playing their third game in four days because of postponements. R.J. Moavero and Scott Huley collected the only hits for King on the afternoon.

King's season is not done — it qualified for the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council tournament, which begins Monday. The Vikings will host South Kent at 4 p.m.
