Kids Find Adventure, Accomplishment At Stamford's Spartan Races

STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford's Mill River Park hosted the Spartan Kids Race on Saturday, with hundreds of families coming out to experience the "world's best obstacle course."

The race featured 2K and 4K heats and over 15 obstacles. It's all designed to build a sense of adventure, camaraderie, and a sense of accomplishment for children ages 5 to 13.

There was also a heat for 'Special Spartans' - designed for athletes with intellectual or developmental disabilities, and those with cognitive learning or vocational delays.

Jon Sabrowski, of Fairfield was at the race with his three kids — ages 9, 7 and 3-and-a-half. "I think it's a great way to expose Mill River Park," he said. "It's a great place to come for the day to enjoy the beauty of the park, and get the kids involved, out for some exercise, and they all loved it.

"I think they get a sense of accomplishment for finishing something," Sabrowki added. "There are a lot of giveaways here — that's really nice. And for the price, you can't beat it. It was a lot of fun."
