STAMFORD, Conn. Westhill girls soccer coach Dave Flower has been named the director of soccer programs at Chelsea Piers Connecticut. Flower, who also coaches Premier level soccer teams, will work hand-in-hand with Kristine Lilly to build one of the strongest soccer training programs in the Northeast.
Flower has more than 14 years of coaching experience in both England and the United States. He currently serves as a U18 and U12 Connecticut Football Club team coach and head coach of the Westhill High School varsity girls team. Flower has helped pave the way for dozens of players to continue their soccer careers at top Division I college programs. Flower also managed NOGA Soccers coaching and camp activities in Connecticut for the past several years.
Flower received the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year award in 2009 and 2011, the Connecticut Girls Soccer Coaches Association Coach of the Year award in 2009 and the MSG Varsity Coach of the Year award in 2011.
Lilly, a soccer legend from Fairfield County, will be running a week-long soccer camp at Chelsea Piers Connecticut in the summer. Lilly will also remain involved year-round as a guest coach and will step in to help with clinics and one-day events.
Soccer programming will focus on skill-based clinics to develop and improve the ability of players at every age level, from preschoolers to college athletes. Flower will also run the year-round, professionally managed adult soccer leagues at Chelsea Piers Connecticut.
Chelsea Piers Connecticut is scheduled to open in July. It will include two skating rinks, facilities for swimming, gymnastics, baseball and softball, tennis and squash. The field house where soccer will be played will include a 100-yard turf field, courts for basketball and volleyball, and a one-fifth mile running track.
