Darien Hosts Figure Skating Event in April

DARIEN, Conn. — The 28th annual Southern Connecticut Open will be held at the Darien Ice Rink on April 20, 21 and 22. This event is sanctioned by the U.S. Figure Skating Association.

More than 350 skaters from all over the Northeast will compete in freestyle and dance events. Skaters of all ages, including adults, will compete in no test beginner up to senior levels.  

The Skating Club of Southern Connecticut will welcome nearly 40 U.S. Figure Skating judges and officials to critique the skaters and complete the markings, which result in awards. The judges and officials, many of whom are sectional and national judges, travel from all over the country to participate. 

The Southern Connecticut Open also will feature various vendors such as Del Arbour, US Icewear, Skaters Landing, Cat Clawz, Born to Skate, Artevitta and more.

The public is welcome to watch the skating. Admission for the day is $7 for adults, $3 for seniors and children ages 6 to 12, and free for children 5 and under. The schedule of events may be found on the club website at www.skatescsc.com. Events run all day and evening Friday and Saturday and through the afternoon Sunday.
