Faber, the Youth Hockey Director at Chelsea Piers in Stamford, the Whale's home rink, scored midway through the second period to cut Buffalo's lead to 2-1 to help lead the Whale's resurgence.
The win improves the Whale's record to 7-0 tops in in the four-team league that is in its first season.
The Beauts led early with a goal from Meghan Duggan 51 seconds into the first period. Shelby Bram scored at 6:30 of the second period to put the Beauts up 2-0.
Duggan left the game early in the second period after taking a hit from Olympic teammate Molly Engstrom, who was given a game misconduct on the play.
In the third period, the Whale were chipping away at the Beauts, and tied the game up with 25 seconds to go in the third period with a goal from Kaleigh Fratkin. Both teams had chances in overtime but nothing went in.
In the shootout, all three Whale shooters scored, with Kelly Babstock, Jessica Koizumi, and Kelli Stack all getting the puck past Amanda Makela. Only one of Buffalo’s shooters, Kourtney Kunichika, was able to get one past Jaimie Leonoff in the shootout.
The Whale's next game is Sunday as they travel to New York to play the New York Riveters at the Aviator Sports & Entertainment Center. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
