Capossela, Brisson Sweep Diving

Kara Capossela and Connor Brisson made it a sweep for Greenwich divers from Stamford-based swim clubs in Monday's 17-and-under Fairfield County Swimming League championships. Capossela, competing for Roxbury Swim Club, and Brisson, Long Ridge, swept the events at Norwalk's Shorehaven Golf Club.

Capossela, a recent graduate of Greenwich High School, completed her final age group diving competition in style. "It's great to win my last swim meet,'' said Kara, who will head to the University of Maine. She won the 1-meter with a score of 356.25, nearly 22 points better than Caroline Ashcraft of Middlesex Club in Darien. She also won the 3-meter, but results were not available.

Brisson won both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. "I wasn't focusing on place,'' Connor said. "I was just trying to do the best could. I had fun and the results are the results." In both events, Brisson won over defending champion Danny Schott. Brisson missed the meet last year due to another competition.

Connor said it wasn't difficult to maintain focus for the long competition. "I kind of take it all the same,'' he said. "You can't stress about it too much."
