Burston Sweeps 14 Diving

Sean Burston of Stamford's Long Ridge Club soared in the air and gently rippled the water Monday in winning 1- and 3-meter dives in the boys division of the 14-and-under meet at the Fairfield County Swimming League championships. The meet was held at Shorehaven in Norwalk.

Burston won the 1-meter with a total of 269.15. Jack Bowtell of Roton Point took second followed by Jackson McGoldrick of Roxbury. In the 3-meter, Burston compiled 271.5 points followed by Bowtell and Lee Christensen of Wee Burn.

Sean has swept the boards in previous FCSL meets. Still, the long competition on both boards left him weary. "I'm just tired,'' he said. "It was an early day and diving two events is tough."

He recently competed in the Speedo Junior National Championships. He took 10th on the 1-meter board and also competed on the 3-meter board. "I have a lot bigger dives n the 3-meter, and dives that have a lot more flips,'' he said.
