Ballo Finishes 4th in Big East Golf

Stamford's Peter Ballo finished fourth in the Big East Golf championships Tuesday at Innisbrook Resort in Florida. Ballo shot an even-par 71 and finished with a 54-hole score of four-over-par 217.

Ballo, who played in high school at Trinity Catholic, opened with a 75. He followed with consecutive 71s and finished five shots behind tournament champion Max Scodro of Notre Dame. Ballo, a sophomore, was three-over par after just seven holes in Tuesday's final round. He regrouped with an eagle on the 560-yard, par-5 first hole. He finished with three birdies, an eagle, three bogeys and one double bogey.

St. John's finished 11th in the 12-team field. Notre Dame won the tournament. Georgetown's Curtis Loop, a former New Canaan High star, paced the Hoyas with a 54-hole total of 223. Loop shot 71 in the final round. He shot 80 in the second round after a solid 72 in the opening round. Georgetown finished fourth.

Ballo's brother, Mike, also played at St. John's. He is a professional golfer playing in Florida.
