Stamford's Waterside School Opens at New Location

STAMFORD, Conn. – Waterside School students will report to their brand-new building on Pacific Street in Stamford Wednesday for the first day of school.

“This is such a blessing,” Jody Visage, the head of school at Waterside, said after she and several other students cut a ribbon opening the new building.

Waterside first opened its doors in 2001 as an alternative to public school for students living in the urban parts of Stamford. Gov. Dannel Malloy believes the work done not only at Waterside, but at Stamford AcademyTrailblazers Academy and Rogers International School, are good models for the rest of the country to follow.

“This school is evidence of a change that is coming,” Malloy said. He added that Waterside’s success should be replicated.
