Stamford's Aite Advances On Trivia Contest TV Show

STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford’s Academy of Information, Technology, and Engineering has made it to the second round of MSG Varsity’s show “The Challenge.”

The school is one of 16 from Connecticut remaining on the show and will face Platt Technical High School in its second round match, a release from the show said. The Academy of Information, Technology, and Engineering’s contest against Platt will air at 6:30 p.m. on April 12, the release said.

Participating on the team is team captain Jahedul Islam, Aaron Ghebrehiwet, Benjamin Paz and Michael White, with Michael Markman and Brian Cheng serving as alternates. Teacher Nicholas DeAntonis is the team’s advisor, the release said.

“The Challenge” is a tournament style, trivia game show with 192 high schools across the tri-state area competing, the release said. The winner of each region will get $2,500 for its school and $10,000 for the tri-state champion with each student in the final receiving $500, the release said.
