Stamford Students, Local Agency Bring Holiday Cheer To Needy Families

STAMFORD, Conn. – The holidays will be a little brighter for three Stamford families thanks to the efforts of a nonprofit agency that aids immigrants -- and local students and their mentors.

Students from the Stamford Public Education Foundation collaborated with a local charitable organization to help several local families in need.

A representative of the agency, Neighbors Link Stamford, will collect donations for the families on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at the Newfield Elementary School.

The school is located at 345 Pepper Ridge Road, Stamford.

This project, brought to the community through the Stamford Public Education Foundation’s (SPEF) Service-Learning program, is a collaboration between SPEF, fifth-grade students from Newfield Elementary School, and their UConn mentors.

The donations were provided by Toys for Tots, Fairway Market, Palmwich, Target, Eden Farms Nursery & Garden Center, UConn-Stamford students, and other anonymous donors.

The families will also receive holiday ornaments made by SPEF students and their mentors.
