STAMFORD, Conn. -- Students at Stamford High School participated in Altice Connects “Meet the Leaders at School” program, which took place on campus Monday and U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn, took part in the event.

In honor of Veterans Day, the program focused on the importance of the holiday, public service and leadership.

Blumenthal invited Phil Kraft, a veteran who is also the president and executive director of National Veterans Services Fund, Inc., to join him for a panel discussion moderated by David Smith.

The panel focused on the meaning of Veterans Day and included a question-and-answer session with the students.  More than 75 students, staff and guests were in attendance.

"Veterans Day offers a moment to gather as a country to honor veterans of all eras, to remember our debt to military men throughout history and recognize the sacrifices of their loved ones,” said Blumenthal. “We must fight to ensure our veterans have the healthcare they need, the opportunities they earned, and the gratitude they deserve. I thank Altice for this opportunity to join students in discussing the importance of this day.”

“‘Meet the Leaders’ provides an opportunity for students to engage with community leaders like Senator Blumenthal,” said Lee Schroeder, senior vice president, government and public affairs for Altice USA. “Altice Connects is pleased to bring this program to students at Stamford High School, so they could hear firsthand from incredible veterans like Phil Kraft who have given so much to protect our country.”

"Meet the Leaders" is an interview-style program that connects viewers to local leaders through insightful discussion on a wide variety of issues ranging from politics, business, the environment, arts, education and more.
