Berube is responsible for managing all aspects of the student membership experience at Future 5, including program/workshop development and implementation involving over 100 students. She is also responsible for the student advocate team, engagement of volunteer coaches and tutors, academic enhancement, and student recruitment from all four Stamford high schools.

Berube, a New Canaan resident, joined Future 5 in 2014 as a student advocate and was promoted to student supervisor one year later. She is also a resident tutor for the students of A Better Chance, a nonprofit in New Canaan. Prior to Future 5, Berube was a public school elementary student teacher in North Carolina. She received a bachelor's degree in education from Elon University.

“Ellen has quickly proven to be a strong leader. While she certainly has high-level business administration and organizational skills, she instinctively is able to connect with high school age students, easily developing close, trusting relationships, which is critical to helping carry out the Future 5 mission,” said Clif McFeely, founder and executive director of Future 5.

Stamford resident Oliva joined Future 5 in October 2015 as student advocate intern. He works alongside Berube, the coaching staff and directly with student members to ensure their participation in Future 5’s after-school workshops and the implementation of each student’s game plan.

Oliva graduated from Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts, with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Prior to Future 5, he was a program assistant for Stamford Recreation and a marketing/front office intern for Rochester, New York’s RazorSharks basketball team.

“Raul has been an incredible addition to the Future 5 team. He is extremely intuitive and has already become a close adviser to many of our students. We are lucky to have him," said Berube.

Founded in 2009, Future 5 has a 98 percent high school graduation rate.
