The deadline for new or unaffiliated voters to register in person with the local registrar of voters or town clerk of the town of residence is noon on Aug. 8. The deadline for new or unaffiliated voters to register for the primary by mail or online is Aug. 4.
The mail-in application of new or unaffiliated voters must be received by the town registrar—or a voter registration agency or the Department of Motor Vehicles—by Aug. 4.
“Local elections are arguably when the voters have the greatest impact. If there is a primary in your town, please don’t miss the opportunity to choose who will represent your party on the ballot in November," Merrill said.
Polls will be open on Aug. 9 for registered Democrats and Republicans from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters can visit this link to learn how to register, check their registration, find their polling locations and download absentee ballot applications.
Primary elections are scheduled in the following Fairfield County races:
- State Senate 22nd District in Bridgeport for Democrats between Thomas C. McCarthy andMarilyn V. Moore
- State Senate 23rd District in Bridgeport for Democrats, between Dennis Bradley and Ed Gomes
- State House 113th District in Shelton between Republicans Jason Perillo and Ruth Parkins
- State House 124th District in Bridgeport between Democrats Andre F. Baker Jr. and Charles J. Coviello Jr.
- State House 126th District in Bridgeport between Democrats Charlie Stallworth and Maria H. Pereira
- State House 146th District in Stamford between Democrats Terry B. Adams and Dan Dauplaise
- Judge of Probate to Fill Vacancy for Bethel and Ridgefield between Republicans Patrick J. Walsh and Daniel O'Grady
