Woman Uses Wine Bottle To Smash Stamford Hotel TV During Smoking Dispute

STAMFORD, Conn. -- A woman threw a wine bottle at a television in a Stamford hotel room' during a dispute about who had been smoking cigarettes early Tuesday, police said.

Athena Newend, 25, of 3455 8th St., NW, New York City, was charged with second-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

Police were called to the Sheraton Hotel on East Main Street at about 5 a.m. after a disturbance reported in a room. There were three other occupants in the room at the time, police said. The room's telephone was also damaged along with the television, police said.
