The accident took place around 4:45 p.m. Monday on Nathan Hale Drive when the husband put the car in neutral with the parking brake engaged during a stop to visit someone, said Sgt. Robert Shawinsky.

Parked on a hill, the car began to roll backward, and the wife who was sitting in the passenger seat attempted to get out and run to the driver's side to put it in park, he said.

Instead, she began tangled up and her legs became trapped under the vehicle and were run over, he added.

The unidentified woman was transported to Stamford Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
